Local Artist “Leaves” Her Mark on Nature
Cedar City Utah, March 2017- Samantha LeFevre, an artist from Cedar City Utah decided to put a unique spin on landscape art. Inspired by the beautiful fall leaves up on Cedar Mountain, she decided to create paintings on pressed, dried leaves using acrylic paint. The results turned out to be both beautiful and one of a kind. She hopes that her art will inspire others to appreciate and care for nature and trees.
As a student at Southern Utah University, Samantha volunteered to be a member of the SUU Tree Board. She was involved in helping SUU to become certified as a Tree Campus USA and has planned various activities such as an Arbor Day tree planting memorial and a campus tree inventory. The SUU Tree Board has been created to ensure that trees continue to be planted on campus to improve the look and overall feel of SUU campus.
“I have always loved trees and being in nature” proclaimed Samantha. “I wanted to come up with a unique way to express my passion through art”.
When people began to show interest in her art, she decided to create an Etsy store called ForestreeArt where she sells her painted leaves. ForestreeArt was created in December 2016. The mission of ForestreeArt is to “Celebrate the Magnificence of Trees through Art”. Samantha has seen much success with her art and hopes to continue to inspire others. She hopes to collaborate ForestreeArt with a nonprofit tree planting organization in the future in order to help make the world a better place by planting more trees.
